Caramel Apple Baked Brie

Caramel Apple Baked Brie

Serves 46

For a fresh take on the classic fruit-and-cheese pairing, Amy Buchanan of Atta Girl Says added pecans, brown sugar and cinnamon to make a sweet and salty fall snack that's baked in a small cast-iron skillet.

1 wheel of Brie cheese
Granny Smith apple, finely chopped
cup chopped pecans, plus more for garnish
1 tablespoon brown sugar
teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter, melted
Caramel sauce

1. Preheat oven to 350F.

2. Slice the Brie in half horizontally, as if you were cutting a bagel.

3. Combine apple, pecans, brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.

4. Pour in the melted butter and stir to combine.

5. Place half of the Brie, rind side down, in a small cast-iron skillet or baking dish.

6. Top with half of the apple mixture, and then top with the other half of the Brie, rind side up.

7. Spoon the rest of the apple mixture onto the top of the Brie and drizzle with caramel sauce. Garnish with additional chopped pecans, if preferred.

8. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until the cheese begins to melt.

9. Serve with cinnamon apple chips, cinnamon sugar pita chips, bread or apple slices.
